PROJECT BP100
Make Bohicon the cleanest city in Benin by 2025
OUR STORY
PROJECT BP100
My name is Gilchrist L. Atchaoué. I am a Canadian originally from Benin, West Africa. I am the founder of COSED. I started this exciting journey in 2019, when I went back home in Benin to visit my family. I realized that in Bohicon, the city where he was raised, nothing has evolved in 10 years. There were still the same poor neighborhoods, very few jobs and almost non-existent activities for young people. Most shockingly, a major problem of street garbage dumps was still occurring, with no functioning solution on the horizon. I felt embarrassed for my country and decided that it was time for me to do something about the situation. I wanted to do something big enough to put a dent in the history of the city.
With the help of an old friend from high school, I looked for a unique solution for the three problems that I found in the city: a poor waste management system, lack of jobs and lack of activity for young people. We came up with the project BP100, a community project that gets young people together to remove all the piles of trashes from the streets. The concept is to invite 500 volunteers to a cleaning campaign, in a party atmosphere, with food distributed, every week end, with the goal of making Bohicon, the Cleanest City in Benin by 2025.
I'd like you to join me today in this adventure. You can help us sponsor the food, the equipment and many more. To find out how you can help, check out all our options here .
BP100 is the first community project of COSED. It's a holistic approach to development. We use city cleaning as leverage to fight diseases, contribute to food security, promote gender equality and empower the youth.
BP100 consists in federating all the active forces of the city of Bohicon and beyond, in order to totally eradicate the scourge of garbage dumps in nature, and to strengthen the current system of waste management.

OUR MISSION
With BP100 we are bringing the community together along with public services, state, businesses and international partners. The mission is to rebrand the city into a new example of African city, with the populations as main actors. A clean city that attracts more Health, Wealth and Happiness for everyone.
